Strep throat in infants is usually seen in symptoms of high fever. The child might have a red throat with some swelling in it. There could also be red or white patches on the throat. It could be serious or just mild. In any case he doctor should be consulted regarding the same.  Children having the disease should be taken care of, and kept away from other people. A child who is infected with the problem could by fussy about his food, because with swollen throat it is painful to swallow.

Doctors provide amoxicillin liquid prescription, this helps in easy swallowing of food, and on the other hand it also helps in preventing infection in the ears, which is indirect result of strep throat in infants.The disease of the throat is caused by bacteria, known as streptococcus in medical terms. A person who is infected should be kept away from others, especially the children. Young infants are very much prone to this contagious infection. The infection is transmitted through saliva, direct contact, running nose and drinks. One only becomes fully aware of the disease after 3-4 days. Antibiotic treatment should be provided to the infected person within 24 hrs, this helps in preventing the spread of the disease to the other members of the house.Children between 5-15 yrs of age are most plausible suspects to this disease. Germs can be caught at school, play school, play ground, day boarding or elders who have got it from outside.

Germs are found to be very active near the fall or the early spring season.There is a difference between a sore throat and a strep throat. You can identify it to be a strep throat if the above symptoms are there or if the neck glands appear to be swollen; it is also there if the tonsils become enlarged. There might be an appearance of a rash somewhere on the body.To help the child through the tough and painful time, he should be given lot of water, liquid diet.  He should be given lot of rest. Since gargling with salt water is not possible for a child, he can just drink the same. Lukewarm water is best in this case. Child can be given acetaminophen or ibuprofen to keep the pain at bay. Strep throat in infants'causes' high fever, and this also help in controlling the same.
