When nose tissues and blood vessels in the nose become swollen, it causes stuffy nose. The major reason could be extra fluid in the nose. A humidifier can also work for a stuffy nose if it is caused by dry air. A humidifier puts some moisture in the air to relieve the stuffy nose. It can make you sleep comfortably if used at night. Nasal steroid spray is another stuffy nose remedy. You need to have a prescription for buying a spray, as it is not an over-the-counter medication. In case of sinusitis, visit your doctor to get a prescription of antibiotics. Some other over-the-counter medications can do best to cure the stuffy nose like Benadryl or Sudafed.

Some simple stuffy nose remedies include slicing an onion and inhale it. Odor of the onion can clear your stuffy nose. Eat some spicy food to make your nose run. It will surely help clearing your stuffy nose. Always keep your head up when you are sleeping by taking more than one pillow. It will restrict the mucus to pool in your head. You can spray salt water in your nose or gargle it to get relief. Blow your nose frequently to get the mucus out. Use tissue and dispose it off to avoid spreading the virus. Vicks or some other menthol topical rub can cause an instant relief. Apply it on your chest, back, on nose and upper lips to sooth the breathing. Getting a lot of rest can help you get relief fast.
